Obtaining a stranger’s name and their photograph shouldn’t really be that difficult, should it? I have developed this project throughout my final year of university, and it is based on street portraiture, capturing the raw emotion of each individual I came across. At the beginning, it took me hours to capture one stranger on the street, worrying how to approach them and their thoughts. Over the course of this project, I have battled with the constant anxiety of approaching people, to engage and communicate with them, in order to produce a portrait of them, and to acquire their name in the process. I have found it interesting and challenging at the same time, discovering who they really are.
